Abuja - The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives-Federal Health Institution (NANNM-FHI) Sector has expressed strong disappointment and disillusionment over the recent review of allowances for nurses. The union claims the new provisions are inadequate and fail to address the key concerns and welfare needs of its members. According to the union, the current allowances for shift duties, including night shifts and weekend shifts, are grossly insufficient. The union also expressed concern over the inadequacy of call duty allowances, noting that nurses on call often have to sacrifice their personal time and be available to respond to emergencies at any moment. The union is also demanding specialty allowances for nurses in specialized fields, including psychiatric nurses, critical care nurses, and pediatric nurses, among others.
